SUPERTRAINS

The supertrain that I rode today with den svarta katten has a top operational speed of 124 MPH. It's a speed it hits over long distances, but it isn't an especially exciting top speed in a world where 200 MPH is thrown about as a typical goal for high speed rail. I certainly don't object to the idea that really SUPER high speed rail is a reasonable long term goal, but we all shouldn't forget that if there can be improvements which let trains run at 100+ mph over long stretches then that makes train travel quite desirable. Really high speed is great, but 120 MPH is pretty damn good, as long as it's consistent and reliable.
