Better

Good for the AP.
As D.C. the National Guard arrived at their headquarters Tuesday, for many residents, the prospect of federal troops surging into neighborhoods represented an alarming violation of local agency. To some, it echoes uncomfortable historical chapters when politicians used language to paint historically or predominantly Black cities and neighborhoods with racist narratives to shape public opinion and justify aggressive police action.
Not a perfect piece, but few outlets even acknowledge the racism underlying everything the Trump administration is doing. Mostly we get the New York Times explaining that Trump is courageously battling antisemitism in his efforts to ban black people from universities.

Most of our high status outlets and news personalities are out and proud gutter racists now.

If You're Listening

I get annoyed when people see every conspiracy going back to Russia, but this one isn't too unexpected.
Investigators have uncovered evidence that Russia is at least in part responsible for a recent hack of the computer system that manages federal court documents, including highly sensitive records that might contain information that could reveal sources and people charged with national security crimes, according to several people briefed on the breach.

Sure Why Not

Men are weird.
A new report claims Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has already set his sights on the next Bond girl: His new wife, Lauren Sánchez.

The pair recently married in June in a star-studded Venetian wedding but it looks like Bezos wants to make it official on the silver screen as well by casting her in Amazon MGM’s upcoming James Bond reboot. A new report claims Bezos has become “obsessed” with the idea of casting her in a major role.

“He’s obsessed,” said a Hollywood insider, per Rob Shuter’s newsletter. “This isn’t just fantasy casting — Jeff wants her on screen, period.”
(I don't even care if this is true. It's funny.)

The Girls Are Fighting

Ah, Well, Nevertheless

Eight months ago.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently published a post on his personal blog reflecting on AI progress and his predictions for how the technology will impact humanity’s future. “We are now confident we know how to build AGI [artificial general intelligence] as we have traditionally understood it,”Altman wrote. He added that OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is beginning to turn its attention to superintelligence.
Now.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said artificial general intelligence, or “AGI,” is losing its relevance as a term as rapid advances in the space make it harder to define the concept.
The PR for this whole fraud began with a fake panic about being worried they were about to invent God, and here we are now.

Team "it's just spicy Clippy" undefeated.

Leftleaning Media Is Too Hard

The Pod People are hardly extreme leftists; they are pretty much the definition of mainstream institutional democrats. Still, in being that, they are, actually, sometimes to the left of Morning Joseph or mainstream journalists.

Specifically, they are occasionally going to take a line of questioning that isn't premised on nudging the subject into giving an answer to appeal to the imagined center of The Baileys, or the consensus Washington centrism.

The specific issue of Israel is a minefield for most elected Democrats at the moment, but, more generally, Pete's pre-programmed lines are all set in response to being questioned "from the  center and right."

This is why elected Dems are so uncomfortable with an actual "liberal media," even as they go on a snipe hunt for their "liberal Joe Rogan." Their talking point regurgitation system might freeze up in response to a question, as happened to Pete, or, even worse, they might get tricked into giving an answer that is at odds with their usual line.

They might accidentally say something that would make their beloved David Brooks sigh.

#NOTALLDEMOCRATS of course. You know the ones I mean.

Turning the FBI into Paul Blarts.
Groups of uniformed agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies could be seen strolling streets in small groups. At least 120 FBI agents were reassigned from other duties to take part in Sunday's patrols.

At one intersection, a minor traffic accident between a car and a moped brought at least two dozen agents running, some wearing masks and one carrying a rifle. Local D.C. Metropolitan police were also on scene.
One doesn't have to put our elite federal law enforcement agents on a pedestal to understand that they aren't trained for this shit, whatever this shit is.

Twirling Twirling Twirling

I am actually puzzled that Master Communicator, Pete Buttigieg, has not managed to come up with some more convincing bullshit than this AI slop equivalent.

Pod Save America: Do you think it's time to recognize a Palestinian state? Pete Buttigieg: I think that that's a profound question that arouses a lot of the biggest problems that have happened with Israel's survival, Israel's right to survival, in the diplomatic scene.

I guess like many Democrats he is just hoping the problem goes away. In some sense he is going to get his wish!

Occupied Capital

Once upon a time, most of the Republicans in the DC political-industrial complex lived outside of DC. That is no longer the case. I hope they have fun!
WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump pledged on Sunday to evict homeless people from the nation's capital and jail criminals, despite Washington's mayor arguing there is no current spike in crime.

While details of the plan were unclear, the administration is preparing to deploy hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington, a U.S. official told Reuters, a controversial tactic Trump used recently in Los Angeles to tackle immigration protests over the objections of local officials.
Anyway, Reuters, gonna fix your typo here:
despite the fact that there has been no spike in crime, which has, actually, fallen significantly.
How do I know this? I read it in Reuters.
