Disconnected

This is a point which doesn't get enough attention. Even in places where they are building "Town Center" type development, as in retail development in conjunction with housing and commercial in suburban contexts, there are limits to the benefits of density that can be realized as long as such developments are embedded in typical new road and highway networks. It's as if instead of ruining cities by building urban highways, you're starting with the cities being pre-ruined by the ribbons of roadways running through them.

Not saying that therefore such developments are bad, just that they're limited.
