I lived in the urban hellhole for 4-5 years or so without any personal outside space. It didn't matter at first, but then it did. Even if you don't use it much, even if it's just a too tiny balcony, it is a desirable amenity.
Now my too big house has a too small back porch and a too many floors up (from the kitchen) roof deck. Don't even use either all that much, but they're still appreciated.
