I actually used to be a pretty big fan of both. My experience with both of them has been more than a little mixed in the past few years. Excellent customer service, at least for small clients (households), has apparently not been a priority.
This might not be true in 10 years, but right now the country still needs universal flat rate postal service. I'm really not sure how things would operate smoothly without it.
Not saying all of my customer service dealings with the USPS are perfect, but one of the joys of the USPS is most of the time I can make use of their services without any customer service dealings.
