And If He Was Single?
I'm curious what the Weiner coverage would have been like if he wasn't married, when the story would have literally been about nothing other than a dude flirting online with women who, as far as we (I? haven't paid all that much attention) know weren't complaining about his behavior.
The Problem Is Too Many Cars
I'd bet that there's really nothing that can be done to improve the basic traffic situation around Washington, DC. Things can be done that can make the commuting situation better for some people, but nothing's going to change the fact that there are too many people/car units in too much sprawl development.
Nothing's Really Changed
So it seems the press has rediscovered the fact that the jobs situation still sucks. Unemployment rate has been 8.8%+ since April of 2009. Now they're noticing?
Good Morning
Delaware is considering giving all three of our Electoral College votes to whichever candidate wins the nationwide popular vote. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Rich Guys Vs. Richer Guys
Amazingly the richer guys lost, according to the twitter, as Senate amendment to maintain absurdly high card swipe fees loses.
Though the lobbying was rich guys (big retailers) vs. richer guys (banksters), there is actually a right side here, as the swipe fees were of course way above actual cost due to monopoly power, and are a serious problem for smaller retailers (not so rich guys) as well.

The Rules
One thing I think Glenn misses is that the "not even a thin justification necessary" rules for journalistic voyeurism will be selectively applied. When a Villager In Good Standing has a tabloidish "scandal," we'll hear endless handwringing about those awful bloggers are prying into somebody's personal business.
I Guess We'd Better Give It Another Six Months
Anyone have any idea what the point of this is?
The report describes the use of aid money to stabilize areas the military has cleared of Taliban fighters — a key component of the administration’s counterinsurgency strategy — as a short-term fix that provides politically pleasing results. But it says that the enormous cash flows can overwhelm and distort local culture and economies, and that there is little evidence the positive results are sustainable.
One example cited in the report is the Performance-Based Governors Fund, which is authorized to distribute up to $100,000 a month in U.S. funds to individual provincial leaders for use on local expenses and development projects. In some provinces, it says, “this amount represents a tidal wave of funding” that local officials are incapable of “spending wisely.”
