While we're discussing the ending of welfare for the heartland, a cause you'd think Mickey Kaus would be taking up unless, you know, he was only concerned that people with "ghetto-based ideas" were getting welfare...but I digress. Anyway, while we're discussing the ending of welfare for the heartland we should also be discussing the ending of affirmative action in elite undergraduate institutions for the Heartland. It's an obscene affront to any notion of equity that people are given admissions favoritism based on their regional ethnicity.
