Casualties

I only had semi-regular brief doses of BBC or CNN International while I was away.  I heard plenty of stories about deaths in Iraq while I was there - car bombs killing civilians and members of the Iraqi security forces, etc...  During that time I'm pretty sure I didn't hear about a single American casualty.  That isn't to say it wasn't reported at all -- it just wasn't reported much.  I was shocked to read in the IHT right before I returned that July has yet again been another bloody month for our troops - 42 US soldiers killed already.  Number 900 just happened.
