New Washington Post Poll

The horse race is dead even in the latest WaPo poll, 46-46. Other highlights:

Is the US winning the War on Terror?
Yes - 46%
No - 38%
Yes is down eight points since April while No is up 11. This is the first time the WaPo poll has found that less than half of the respondents thought we were winning.

Was the War on Iraq worth it?
Yes - 45%
No - 53%.
A record high for No.

Do you see Kerry as a "strong leader"?
Yes - 55% (up three points since April)

Do you see Bush as a "strong leader"?
Yes - 58% (down five points since April)

What about each candidate's base?

Kerry supporters: how many of you will "definitely" vote for Big John in November?
79%, up 7 points from three weeks ago.

Bush supporters: how many of you will "definitely" vote for Chimpus Unelectus in November?
76%, unchanged from last month.

UPDATE: A touchy-feely poll from the AP.

Two-thirds in the poll think the president is decisive, the biggest character advantage the president has over Kerry in the poll. But a majority, 52 percent, also say they think Bush is arrogant.

Four in five voters, 83 percent, say Kerry is intelligent, compared with 63 percent who view Bush as intelligent.

Nine in 10 voters view the president as wealthy while nearly as many, 85 percent, see Kerry as wealthy.
