I used to live in Laguna Beach. The day laborer site was a new thing for me, though certainly a fairly common feature around SoCal and the southwest. It's an odd thing to see, the first time, a semi-official place to hire mostly illegal workers. But it's one of those things which is far superior to the available alternative arrangements.
