Ads

Argh. Something like this goes around every few months. In response to this, paid advertisements are paid advertisements. They are not endorsements by me. My ad policy is, roughly, accept any ad that is work safe (both the ad and whatever page it links to) and isn't at a glance advertising something obviously fraudulent (the blogads version of a Nigerian email scam). If the RNC wants to buy an ad that's fine with me. There are probably some other things I'd reject - something clearly racist, for example - but on the whole it's important to separate advertising from editorial. The only question is whether the advertising influences the editorial, but in the case of the net neutrality issue that obviously hasn't been the case.

I do not endorse all of the candidates, causes, products, organizations, books, movies, television shows, etc... that are advertised here. If I pick and choose ads then that means I'm implicitly endorsing the things advertised here, and that's just not the case.
