In fairness, this is a sentiment
I see on our side sometimes, usually coming from people I imagine have never turned the money on. Not that there's anything wrong about withholding money from things you don't approve of, it's the idea that there's this entire movement behind you who will Really Show Them. If you haven't figured out how to build up some sort of base of power/money, it doesn't really achieve anything to withhold what you weren't providing anyway.
