The Burbs Are Dead! Long Live The Burbs!

As much as Kotkin's one note "nobody wants to live in the city, it's too expensive and crowded" routine gets a bit monotonous, in very broad terms (if not always the particulars of his arguments) he's probably basically right. I don't really see a return to the city revolution happening, and certainly not very fast. What we will hopefully get is, over time, a modification of the way suburbs are built so that they incorporate more "small townish" features. A lot of the talk about urban stuff by me and others tends not to be understood be people who equate "urban" with "Manhattan" when we're really just talking about features which existed in that historical Small Town America which we're all supposed to love but have forgotten how to build somehow.
