Policy

It's true that the national political press doesn't do policy, except at times to evaluate it against some imaginary response by "the public" which is based on Villager conventional wisdom of what the stupid fucking rubes "public" think about any particular issue. Though when the imaginary public's views go against elite Villager conventional wisdom about policy that's tossed out in favor of what the Very Serious People think.
