BRT

I certainly think that a comprehensive mass transit system needs to have both bus and rail, but it should always be remembered that bus systems, and especially BRT systems which are explicitly sold as "cheaper" alternative to rail, are not a substitute for rail systems. One reason is that they're much easier to modify or kill than fixed rail systems, making them inferior as a mode of transportation and even more inferior as a catalyst for transit-friendly development.
