A common refrain from anti-cyclists is that
cyclists pay no taxes. It's true they pay no gas taxes when riding, and are therefore not paying to support a portion of federal and state highways that they are mostly forbidden from riding on, but contrary to popular belief local roads are mostly paid for out of local (property, most places) taxes and are not in any way a user fee imposed on drivers.
