To me, an incredibly maddening thing about the "rape kit" backlog is that immediately after being the victim of a horrific and traumatizing physical crime, in order to actually report the crime and have any chance at all of it being investigated, rape victims have to subject themselves to another humiliating and potentially re-traumatizing ordeal. That this supposed necessary evidence is just
thrown in the corner is despicable.
