One problem is many
Big Time reporters are very defensive about the
New York Post, as it's a place they did their first journalism. The Post's local journalism stuff can be "real" and fairly straightforward, at a time when there aren't a lot of local journalism jobs, and they don't feel like they have any responsible for the bullshit and racism that surrounds it.
They aren't too dumb to know the "real journalism" is just there to launder the bullshit, but they don't care.
