They can’t say they didn’t do anything, right? Because clearly they were there signing off on the bombs and telling lies in front of the press, and they’re obviously very responsible. But their job is to mitigate and get down to manslaughter two. And that’s the role of this article. It is trying to launder the reputation of Sullivan and Blinken in particular, also Jon Finer, who’s their buddy, because Sullivan has a podcast with Jon Finer. They’re friends. And the goal is to make it look like they were doing the Serpico routine. They were trying to change things from the inside. They were wearing a wire. They were secretly on the humanitarian side. And so what you get is, you get, and this is very similar to, we actually —

That State Department’s probably his buddy, or him himself. Quote,
“We were all shocked at how aggressive and deadly it was, and asking, ‘What the fuck are they doing?’”
Ah, so they’re constantly shocked. They’re constantly credulous. They’re constantly sort of confused.
Nima: They’re so shocked that they use bad words, Adam.
This isn't even faking being a better person. It's not having any idea how one would do that!

Kaleem Hawa: Yeah. I mean, it’s one of these things where anyone who’s following the story closely understands that the self-narrations that are being provided are undermined by the facts themselves. And, you know, when you have these moments where, as you mentioned, Blinken is “anxiously,” quote-unquote, asking his staff about Israel’s justifications, we know at the same time he’s blocking reports inside of his own State Department that are highlighting the atrocities.
