Remember W.?

Not an important thing, really, but sometimes I marvel at the fact that there wasn't ever really much of a grappling with the reasons why George Bush went from The Greatest Man In America (I'd say to conservatives, but this was a full media affair) to being widely hated by the public (even as the media were penning "comeback kid" stories) to just gone.

I guess my point is that there was complete denial of it happening even as his polls slid into the 20s (20s!) and then... okay, moving on now, let's never speak of it again.

It's hard to imagine any president having an approval rating in the 20s at this point, and certainly not one who was built up as much as W. was, with full court media cheerleading (partisan and "objective") the whole time.
