BREAKING BREAKING MUST CREDIT ESCHATON

Joke, but seen on social media: The DC Circuit finally ruled against Trump's immunity claim.

...link
WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court on Tuesday rejected Donald Trump’s broad claim that he is immune from prosecution for alleged criminal acts he committed as president in trying to overturn the 2020 election in a chain of events that led to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Was It Good Or Bad

As I keep saying, it's one thing to say, "We gotta give the Republicans shit they want to get shit we want, that's the compromise needed in our dumb system." It's another thing to start bragging about how awesome the REPBULICAN SHIT IS, which many Democrats started to do around the immigration bill for reasons I don't feel obligated to applaud.

Yes Dems were sent out to repeat that this bill will "fix the border."

Gritty bless the House GOP, who regularly rescue us from horrible Grand Bargains.

This Dem didn't like it, but also (as I understand it) nobody bothered to consult him. Send your complaints to Senator Padilla, who obviously wants Trump to win.

Call The Mint

They're making the new money, maybe they should hold off
King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, says Buckingham Palace.

It is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Everything Is Bullshit Now

Whether or not this was due to a staffer and "AI," AI is eating the internet and search engines are increasingly no help.
But Bilal has been telling a different story on her campaign website. It features dozens of favorable headlines attributed to local news organizations such as NBC10, CBS3, WHYY, and The Inquirer, all listing the dates of publication.

“This page,” the site proclaims, “highlights Sheriff Bilal’s record of accomplishment during her time in office.”

One snag: No one can seem to find any of the supposed news stories.

We Must Do Something This Is Something

What seemingly started off as a "compromise" to get Republicans to agree to Ukraine funding (whatever the merits of that deal) somehow became an end in itself. (Some) Dems are convinced they have to do something to convince people they are "doing something about the border," and my brothers in Gritty, that is not how it works, that is never how it work.

I know the Senate bill contains the Ukraine funding, but all the talk is about the necessity (politically) for the Dems to pass an immigration bill.

Is It Good Or Bad

I am struggling to follow the motivation and messaging on the "immigration framework." It seems that the Dems have offered to put immigrants into the woodchipper, the Republicans in the House want to put twice as many into the woodchipper, and I don't know if I am supposed to be mad if this does or doesn't pass.

Do We Think That's Going To Work?

Some people get annoyed at me for my criticisms, but purely from the perspective of "nothing is more important than re-electing Joe Biden," do we think that hiring Lis Smith and getting John Fetterman's advice on how to deal with Gaza criticsm is evidence of a campaign that has any idea what it's doing?

I'm not a supergenius, but my "job" is to pay attention to this shit and while not every subject features prominently on this blog, I am very well-acquainted with Smith and how she operates. It's a bit like sending in tanks to reduce the number of hostages. There will certainly be fewer hostages, but it shows the people in charge did not correctly define the actual problem to be solved.

From a slightly broader perspective, do we think that hiring Lis Smith displays good judgment on any basis?

Amazing Stuff

Think the Biden administration have been getting into Elmo's stash.
The White House, in a reflection of their public confidence (hubris?) regarding the politics of Biden’s positioning on Israel, arranged a call with Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.).

...

Later this year, Biden officials hope to dispatch trusted progressive surrogates to warn against a third-party flirtation — hope you like the Midwest in fall, Senator Sanders! — and plan to bombard the internet with the same message on digital ads even sooner. One idea: Enlist a series of younger voters who admit to being tempted by a third-party hopeful but explain they’re backing Biden because any other choice ensures Trump’s election.
Brain geniuses.

...The Democrats!

Just yesterday I was thinking, "gee, Atrios, I wonder what role Andrew Cuomo's enforcer-against-victims has failed up to most recently?"  I found nothing, but I was one day early.

“People don’t understand how few votes [the third-party candidates] would need to take away,” said Lis Smith, the hard-charging Democratic operative who has recently signed on with the DNC, in part to grab voters by the lapels about the threat at hand. “It’s the whole election.”

Top tier choice. Amazing shit.

Concerning

Not good timing given his recent court judgment, as lack of true Board independence was the key issue.
The volume of drug use by Musk and with board members has become concerning, some of these people said.

In the culture Musk has created around him, some friends, including directors, feel there is an expectation to consume drugs with him because they think refraining could upset the billionaire, who has made them a lot of money, some of the people said. More so, they don’t want to risk losing the social capital that comes from being close to Musk, which for some feels akin to having proximity to a king.
This type of Kreminology is above my pay grade, but "[some] Board members desperately trying to push Musk out" seems like the obvious explanation.

Everybody knows Tesla stock stays high because of retail dipshits enamored with Phony Stark - and the institutional investors betting on their dipshittery continuing - but it's quite possible some board members, in addition to being sick of Elmo's shit and worried for personal liability, understand that the coyote stays in the air until he doesn't.
