Well, the Bush administration is trying to scare as again, even as their DHS director and National Security Adviser are out campaigning.
It really is a shame that the Bush administration's key foreign policy initiative in 2001 was Operation Ignore. It's a shame that a memo titled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." prompted Bush to go on vacation. And, it's a shame that the Cheney terrorism task force, headed by Cheney, never met.
It's time for this country to remember just who it was who had a "September 10th mentality" on September 10th, and just which president it was who failed in his duty to protect this country.
And, it's time for everyone to give a donation to put this ad on the air. Go.

Bush also expressed gratitude to Hispanic families that lost loved ones in the wars in Iraq, adding that they died for a noble cause. Necessity is the Mother of Progress, Apparently
Unlike Newt Gingrich, I'm not worried that the monthly "infections" women get should prevent them from serving in combat. However, one would like to think that changes like this would occur with the appropriate degree of thought and training:

The Army is negotiating with civilian leaders about eliminating a women-in-combat ban so it can place mixed-sex support companies within warfighting units, starting with a division going to Iraq in January.
Despite the legal prohibition, Army plans already have included such collocation of women-men units in blueprints for a lighter force of 10 active divisions, according to Defense Department sources.
An Army spokesman yesterday, in response to questions from The Washington Times, said the Army is now in discussions with Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's staff to see whether the 10-year-old ban in this one area should be lifted. The ban prohibits the Army from putting women in units that "collocate" with ground combatants.

In Ohio people are being called and told to vote at the wrong precinct, which explains their SoS Blackwell's obsession with preventing people from using provisional ballots in the incorrect precinct.

I know this won't ever get through to the increasingly cult-like Bush supporters, but this Washington Post article makes it very clear that Bush's approach to fighting terrorism is entirely wrong. Bush himself is apparently obsessed with crossing names off a list that's 3 years old, and is unable to comprehend anything other than his "decapitation" strategy, which seems to be an extension of the rest of the administration's belief that only "state run" terrorism is of concern. Kill the leaders, and problem solved!

Messed Up in Ohio

The voter problems have already begun, and Republicans are apparently taking this race very seriously. Absentee ballots are being mailed with the wrong Congressional race on them… leaving my race out of the ballot. The ballots are being mailed to the City of Trotwood and is heavily Democratic and not being on the ballot here is devastating. Just as important, if these are irregular ballots, it will give Ken Blackwell a reason to throw them out… affecting Kerry’s race, too. We don’t know how many went out.
The ballots are being sent with Jeff Hardenbrook’s name rather than Jane's; John Boehner is the Republican. Hardenbrook is a perennial candidate who PLANS not to raise money, and files paper FEC reports. He barely managed 29% of the vote last time. Of course, here in Ohio, we have the situation with Republican Attorney General Kenneth Blackwell seeking to disqualify any ballot cast at the wrong precinct; of course he would do the same with these, knocking out Kerry votes as well as Jane's.

Huge "White Catholic" Turnaround for Kerry
The latest Pew poll shows a big turnaround for Kerry among white Catholics. I really don't like Pew's focus on only "white" religious voters. I can think of a few reasons why they do it, but it nonetheless provides an incorrect picture of the sentiment of religious voters.
The other problem with these polls is that while the subgroup results are interesting, they truly do have margin of error problems. So, "big swings" may just be noise. The margin of error on the white Catholic subgroup is probably about +/- 7%, so one should never take them too seriously.
